Venezuela beat Colombia by 19 points in its debut in the 2025 America Cup

The Venezuelan national basketball team defeated its Colombian counterpart with a difference of 19 points (79-60) in the first FIBA American Cup 2025 window that was played at José María Vargas in La Guaira, in a match that had a posthumous tribute to Garly Sojo at halftime.

The Vinotinto basketball dominated the coffee makers with spaciousness in every room. Michael Carrera with 19 points was the most outstanding, while David Cubillán reached 132 three-pointers with the National Team and equaled Gabriel Estaba in the second of the highest tripliers in history.

“It's devastating to lose a brother, but we dedicate this victory to Garly Sojo, a great player and extraordinary human being,” Carrera stressed during the post-match press conference.

The Vinotinto and Cafeteros national team will face each other again in Colombia on Sunday, February 25, in the city of Medellín, where the team will start with the advantage of 19 points scored in La Guaira.
