Venezuela beat Colombia in the South American women's under-17 basketball tournament

The women of the Venezuelan National Team, under-17 category, achieved their second victory in the South American Championship of Paraguay 2025, this time, against their Colombian counterpart. 47 - 46, in a match where the Criollas dominated the first three quarters against the New Grenadines who tried a comeback but did not succeed.

The clash between coffee and oil companies marked their second appearance in group B of the Championship held at the Cop Arena gymnasium in the city of Asunción, Paraguay.

Once these first two obstacles have been overcome, the Venezuelans will face Paraguay on Friday 24/10 while the semifinals will be played on Saturday 25/10, and the last day for ours is scheduled for Sunday 26/10 if they win in a round of 4.

In the group stage, each team will face the rest of its group rivals once. The first two teams will advance to the semifinals, and those that finish in third and fourth place in the group will play the reclassification from fifth to eighth place.
The fifth place in group A will finish in ninth place in the tournament. The first three South American U17 teams will qualify for the FIBA Women's Under-18 AmeriCup in 2026.

Venezuela is in group B, along with Paraguay, Chile and Colombia. Group A is made up of Ecuador, Argentina, Brazil, Bolivia and Uruguay.
