The Government of the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela announced on
Monday the decision to break diplomatic relations with the Republic
of Paraguay, following statements by President Santiago Peña, with which he
intends to reissue the extinct and failed Lima Group and the Guaidó
2.0 experiment, now with the fugitive Edmundo González Urrutia at the head.
In a statement released by Foreign Minister Yván
Gil, the Bolivarian Government stated that “it is regrettable that governments such as
Paraguay continue to subordinate their foreign policy to the interests of
foreign powers, promoting agendas aimed at undermining democratic principles and the will of free peoples.”
Below is the full text of the document:
The Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela
categorically rejects the statements of the president of Paraguay, Santiago Peña,
who, ignoring international law and the principle of non-intervention, relapses into a failed practice that recalls the political fantasies
of the extinct Lima Group with its ridiculous adventure called Guaidó.
These actions represent a reissue of strategies without political, legal or social
support, which have demonstrated their resounding failure.
It is regrettable that governments such as Paraguay's continue to subordinate their
foreign policy to the interests of foreign powers, promoting agendas
aimed at undermining democratic principles and the will of free peoples.
In this context, the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela has
decided, in full exercise of its sovereignty, to break diplomatic relations
with the Republic of Paraguay and to proceed with the immediate withdrawal of its
diplomatic personnel accredited to that country.
The Bolivarian Government reaffirms its commitment to the defense
of democracy, peace and the self-determination of peoples,
essential principles of the Charter of the United Nations, and reaffirms that no buffoonery
instructed by international fascism will succeed in bending the will of a people who are firm in the construction of their own destiny.
