Through his Telegram channel, Foreign Minister of the Republic, Yván Gil, highlighted that this April 27, Venezuela celebrates 16 years since the official establishment of diplomatic relations with Palestine.

“On April 27, 2009, Venezuela and Palestine officially established diplomatic relations under President Hugo Chávez . This agreement was formalized through the signing of a treaty that symbolizes Venezuela's commitment to supporting the self-determination of Palestine and its right to exist as a sovereign state,” he said.

He also specified that this commitment is renewed year after year by the president of the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela, Nicolás Maduro, who has been one of the main voices in defending the Palestinian cause.

He emphasized that the Venezuelan Government, together with the Palestinian authorities, promotes exchange in culture, education and economy, an initiative that strengthens historic and supportive ties between the two sister nations.

Also, Venezuela and Palestine established commercial agreements in the areas of health and telecommunications, during the Government of the leader of the Bolivarian Revolution, Hugo Chávez, cooperation that has been maintained to date by the constitutional president, Nicolás Maduro Moros.
