The Deputy Minister for Asia, the Middle East and Oceania of the Ministry of People's Power for Foreign Affairs, Tatiana Pugh Moreno, together with the Chargé d'Affaires of the Islamic Republic of Iran, Sirous Karimí, led this Monday the celebration of the 46th Anniversary of the Islamic Revolution, in Caracas.

From the spaces of the “Antonio José de Sucre” Yellow House, Deputy Minister Pugh assured that not only are 46 years since the triumph of the revolution commemorated, but “the 46 years of resistance and struggle of a people, who with strong leadership have made great progress and resisted many offenses by imperialist interests”.

“The Iranian people are a symbol of courage and drive to become a prosperous society with great technological advances,” added the diplomat, while reiterating that relations between the two nations have been framed by solidarity and brotherhood.

In addition, the Iranian Chargé d'Affaires thanked everyone present for their presence and assured that 46 years ago the people of Iran advanced, and since “music is the universal language, today we are going to speak to you through that language”.

In this regard, the activity was enlivened by the traditional Iranian music orchestra Avaye Deilaman, with string and percussion instruments. In addition, there was an exhibition of Persian carpets and handicrafts.

The Iranian Revolution, also known as the Islamic Revolution or 1979 Revolution, was a process of mobilizations, campaigns, strikes and protests, which overthrew the Pahlavi dynasty and the deposition of Shah Mohammad Reza Pahleví, who had the support of the United Kingdom and the United States, which began in 1977.

On January 16, 1979, the Shah left Iran and went into exile, and on February 11, 1979, he succeeded in proclaiming himself the Islamic Republic of Iran, leaving behind 25 centuries of monarchy. Since then, a political system began to take shape that condenses divine sovereignty and popular will.
