The Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela congratulated the heroics of the Cuban people for the new victory achieved in the General Assembly of the United Nations (UN), where the group of member countries demanded an end to the illegal U.S. blockade that has lasted more than sixty years.

In a statement issued by the Foreign Ministry, the Bolivarian Government stated that this is a struggle of Cuba and of the entire world, for dignity and in defense of international law in the face of the imperialist aggression of the United States (USA).

The full statement is shared:

The Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela congratulates the heroic people and Government of Cuba, as well as President Miguel Díaz-Canel Bermúdez and Army General Raúl Castro Ruz, for the resounding victory achieved in the UN General Assembly, where for the thirty-third consecutive time since 1992, the immediate end of the illegal and criminal U.S. blockade was demanded.

This victory belongs to Cuba, but also to the world, to dignity and to international law in the face of imperial aggression. The vote shows that Washington's blackmail and pressure machinery could not overcome global consciousness.

The blockade, an act of economic war and State terrorism, seeks to surrender a free people. Today, history and justice are on Cuba's side. This day shows that a multicentric and multipolar world is advancing with force, rejecting imperial arrogance.

Cuba's moral prestige rises, inspiring peoples who fight for independence, justice and sovereignty. Venezuela demands the immediate, total and unconditional lifting of the blockade, the end of all coercive measures and the elimination of illegal unilateral lists. We will always accompany the homeland of Martí and Fidel, following the teaching of our Supreme Commander Hugo Chávez.
