The Ministry of Popular Power of Fisheries and Aquaculture announced the successful completion of the comparability registration with the National Office of Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) of the United States (USA), thus ensuring that Venezuelan seafood meets the rigorous quality and sustainability standards required for export to the North American market.

According to a press release from the ministerial body, this process, which formally began on March 27, represents a strategic step for the commercialization of key hydrobiological resources, with special emphasis on high-demand areas such as blue crab.

The Deputy Minister of Primary Fisheries and Aquaculture Production, Pedro Emilio Guerra Castellano, pointed out that “the objective is for the efforts of our artisanal fishermen and aquaculture farmers to cross borders”, as important for the development of the country's economy.

Registration with NOAA, in addition to considering commercial parameters, requires absolute transparency in capture practices.

The information provided by Venezuela to the international system was divided into technical sessions that included: General information on fleets and fishing areas, such as reports of interaction with marine mammal populations and conservation programs, as well as the management and protection of protected species in Venezuelan waters.
