Venezuela's U17 men's national team won its first win at the South American Championship in Asunción this Friday, after beating Chile (64-83) on the third day of the event.
Venezuela (1-2) waited for the result of the match between Paraguay (1-1) and Brazil (2-0), a duel that closed the group stage of the South American Championship. After winning the Rio de Janeiro quintet, the national team will advance to the semifinals and will face Argentina this Saturday for a ticket to the FIBA AmeriCup U-18 in 2026.
The result between Amazonians and Guaraní resulted in a triple tie with a record of 1-2 between Venezuela, Chile and Paraguay, and the difference in points in the games between these teams - the first tiebreaker criterion - favored the national team (VEN +10, CHI +6, PAR -16).
