Venezuela won an important victory against Puerto Rico 5-3 and was left alone as the leader of group A of the Premier 12 of Baseball, which takes place in Mexico.

The national team left their record of 3-1, with only one challenge left in Group A.

“This was a team effort. We came with the mission of playing good baseball, staying united and making decisions that benefit the whole team,” said manager Omar López, after the challenge at the Pan-American Stadium, located in Zapopan, within the Guadalajara Metropolitan Area, LVBP reported.

He also said that the boys have prepared themselves mentally for this and our excellent coaches and scouts provide us with key information for the meetings.

The Venezuelan bullpen threw 7.2 episodes in white with 11 strikeouts, four hits and four walks.

Liarvis Breto, the first of five Venezuelan relievers, was the winning pitcher of the game. He pitched 1.2 innings allowing one hit and one walk, and struck out three.

For his part, Hernán Pérez's bat was hot, going 3-2 with two RBIs and one scored.
