This Friday, the representation of Venezuela before the United Nations, demanded the “immediate cessation” of military operations by the United States (USA), in the southern Caribbean, since the actions are contrary to what is enshrined in international law, which explicitly prohibits the threat of the use of force against sovereign nations, as well as the bombing of civilians.

“We urge the entire system of the United Nations (UN) and this Council (of Human Rights) to condemn these policies of force that jeopardize international peace and security, to demand that the U.S. government put an end to these hostile actions and fully respect the sovereignty and territorial integrity and political independence of Venezuela,” said Ambassador Héctor Constant Rosales, who heads the Venezuelan delegation in the offices of agency in Geneva.

The diplomat alleged that “according to official U.S. sources, they are already carrying out extrajudicial executions in the Caribbean, bombing small artisanal boats with intelligent missiles, violating all existing rights against countries and individuals.”

Constant stressed that “for years, Venezuela has been the subject of a systematic policy of harassment by the United States, which has been escalating from the illegal application of unilateral coercive measures, discrediting campaigns and ignorance” to “legitimate institutions, which seek to justify foreign intervention in Venezuela”, so Washington's military deployment constitutes an escalation “towards a more dangerous plane” within the framework of an “aggression” protracted.

“These actions, which constitute flagrant violations of the UN Charter, seriously threaten hemispheric stability and endanger the human rights of the Venezuelan people and the region,” he stressed.
