Regarding the International Day against Unilateral Coercive Measures (MCU), the Minister of Popular Power for Foreign Affairs, Yván Gil, reiterated his rejection of this type of sanctions because of their arbitrariness and negative impact on the peoples of the world, applied mainly by the government of the United States (USA).

“Venezuela has been the victim of these coercive measures by the United States and Europe, which has had a profound impact on our population, as confirmed by UN experts. However, under the leadership of President Nicolás Maduro, we have demonstrated remarkable strength in rebuilding our economy and guaranteeing the social protection of our people,” said the foreign minister during a speech recorded and broadcast at the headquarters in Geneva (Switzerland) of the United Nations (UN).

He assured that the application of these measures not only impacts the Venezuelan people, but that they have also interrupted programs of solidarity and cooperation, such as PetroCaribe, that benefited the entire region and urged an end to the inhumane blockade against Cuba, imposed by the United States for more than 60 years with total impunity, despite the growing international rejection that is expressed every year.

‎‎En the video, shared on his Telegram channel, Minister Gil, on behalf of President Nicolás Maduro and the Group of Friends in Defense of the Charter of the United Nations, greeted the representatives and countries that participated in the Special Conference commemorating the International Day against MCU.

He urged: “Enough of unilateral coercive measures. Today we raise our voices to denounce the 1,042 criminal coercive measures imposed against our people, with the objective of bending the will of a nation that has chosen the path of sovereignty, under the leadership of President Nicolás Maduro and popular power.”

Gil specified that today “we mark a milestone by unanimously rejecting these unilateral coercive measures, which represent crimes against humanity and violate the fundamental rights of our peoples.”

Finally, the head of the diplomatic office reiterated that the Venezuelan people demand the elimination of these tools of domination and denounce the military threat that looms over the Caribbean nation. “Together, we will defend our sovereignty and the rights of our people!” , he said.
