The voice of Venezuela was strongly heard at the XVI UNCTAD Ministerial Conference, held in Geneva, Switzerland, where the Minister of Foreign Trade, Coromoto Godoy, announced the threats of U.S. military intervention against Venezuela.
“The right to development of peoples is seriously affected by the increasing aggressions that the countries of the North are exercising against the global South,” he said in his speech.
He also denounced that the country has been affected by the imposition of unilateral coercive measures, so he asked UNCTAD to address the issue, in addition to the creation of a permanent observatory for monitoring.
“Venezuela proposes to this Conference the creation of a permanent observatory on the impact of Unilateral Coercive Measures on trade and development. A mechanism based on the research and analysis mandate of this organization. To this end, we make available the work and experience of the Venezuelan Anti-Blockade Observatory,” said the minister.
In the area of international trade, Godoy highlighted that up to August 2025, non-oil exports from Venezuela increased by 78% compared to the same period of the previous year. “Sectors such as fishing, agriculture and industry are now opening up new markets in the world,” he said.
In his speech, he asserted that in the face of multidimensional aggression, Venezuela stands stronger, in the context of highlighting Venezuela's remarkable economic recovery, and he therefore emphasized the call to defend multilateralism against blackmail and hegemonism.
Minister Godoy added that Venezuela adheres to the Declaration of the Group of 77+ China and endorses the statement of the Group of Friends in Defense of the UN Charter that will be pronounced within the framework of this conference.
