The permanent representative of Venezuela to the United Nations (UN), Claudia Salerno, denounced the United States (USA) and El Salvador to this body for kidnapping more than 200 Venezuelan migrants.
“In El Salvador, these Venezuelans have been subjected to cruel, inhuman and degrading treatment, flagrantly violating due process, the right to defense, the presumption of innocence and the defined rules for the treatment of persons deprived of their liberty, including the 'Mandela Rules', to which El Salvador r is a State party,” Salerno said at the opening of the 34th session of sessions of the Commission on Crime Prevention and Criminal Justice.
He also added that these countries seek an exchange of money for each of the kidnapped compatriots, which is why he asked the plenary to record the conduct of these two Member States of the Commission , given that both countries are transgressing the global governance of migration, but also violating the global criminal justice system, according to a note from the Venezuelan Embassy in Austria.
