The Bolivarian Government promotes a sovereign and ethical National Plan for Artificial Intelligence (AI), aimed at developing its own technological tools, reducing dependence on foreign platforms and applying them to strategic sectors such as education, health and the economy. Currently, Venezuela has 65 projects under way in this area.
The plan, as reported by the Venezuelan News Agency (AVN), is implemented in collaboration with China and the ALBA countries, and includes the drafting of a draft law on AI that seeks to regulate its responsible use, as well as to incorporate training in artificial intelligence from schools to universities, with the objective of building AI for life and national development.
Within the framework of the National Scientific Agenda, the country is implementing 950 plans, of which 24% are dedicated to health and 20% to social sciences. In addition, eight technological nodes have been established at the national level, approved by President Nicolás Maduro, which function as pilot spaces for the development of sovereign and secure software oriented towards artificial intelligence.
With regard to citizen training, the Ministry of Popular Power for Science and Technology (Mincyt) offers theoretical-practical courses in Machine Learning and Deep Learning, while the Superintendency of Electronic Certification Services (Suscite) provides free and self-managed training in computer security, computer forensics, cryptography, cybersecurity and digital prevention.
These initiatives are part of the fourth vertex of the Dr. Humberto Fernández-Morán Great Science, Technology and Innovation Mission, which promotes the country's digital transformation.
