Venezuela exported more than 108 metric tons of seafood and seaweed from El Guamache International Port, Nueva Esparta state, to Japan and Chile.
The activity was led by Jorge Taján, president of the Socialist Institute of Fisheries and Aquaculture (INSOPESCA), an agency attached to the Ministry of Popular Power of Fisheries and Aquaculture (MINPESCA), Samir Al Attrach, sole authority of the Nueva Esparta Special Economic Zone and representatives of the companies involved in this operation, Tide C.A. and Seablue Logistic, C.A.
“This is the second export we make from Margarita Island. It is important to highlight the issue of macroalgae with which we have been doing social co-management because they are products that come from small family businesses in Margarita and that, with the help of the Bolivarian Government, are being exported,” said Taján, a press release from MINPESCA.
For his part, the sole authority of the Special Economic Zone of Nueva Esparta, Samir Al Attrach, pointed out that the El Guamache International Port is a large part of that great link that is the Bolivarian Economic Agenda, which “has allowed us to promote the export of non-traditional products such as seaweed and seafood”.
