More than 108 metric tons of seaweed and fish products were exported from El Guamache International Port, in the state of Nueva Esparta, bound for Japan and Chile.
The activity was led by VA Jorge Taján, president of the Socialist Institute of Fisheries and Aquaculture (Insoesca), Samir Al Attrach, sole authority of the Nueva Esparta Special Economic Zone and representatives of the companies involved in this operation, Tide C.A. and Seablue Logistic, C.A.
“This is the second export we make from Margarita Island. It is important to highlight the issue of macroalgae with which we have been doing social co-management because they are products that come from small family businesses in Margarita and that, with the help of the Bolivarian Government, are being exported, thanks to the Ministries of Fisheries and Aquaculture, Transportation, Bolivarian National Armed Forces, Seniat and other State agencies that make it possible,” explained the president of Insoesca, VA Jorge Taján.
Also, according to a press release, the sole authority of the EEZ of Nueva Esparta, Samir Al Attrach, pointed out that “from the El Guamache International Port we are part of that great link that is the Bolivarian Economic Agenda promoted by the President in Charge, Delcy Rodríguez, which has allowed us to promote the export of non-traditional products such as seaweed and seafood”.
Hoce Fariñas, representative of the company Tide, stressed that the activity “benefits more than 300 families directly and more than 600 indirectly.” He also highlighted that since 2023, they have managed to harvest 35,000 metric tons of fresh seaweed.
