Venezuela expresses concern and regrets escalation of violence in the Catatumbo border region

The Bolivarian Government of Venezuela expresses its deep concern about the escalation of violence in the Catatumbo border region, as a result of the Colombian internal conflict, which has caused fatalities and serious damage to the population in the neighboring area.

In a statement published by the Foreign Minister of the Republic, Yván Gil, on his account on the social network Telegram, it is indicated that Venezuela was surprised by these armed events that compromise the peace, stability and security of border communities.

The Republic of Venezuela urges the preservation of peace and stability in the region through mechanisms of understanding and mutual respect, the letter states.
