Venezuela expresses its deepest regret over the tragic accident that occurred in Johannesburg, South Africa, which claimed the lives of students and left several injured.

On his account on the social network Telegram, the Foreign Minister of the Republic, Yván Gil, stressed: “We extend our sincere condolences to the families of the victims, to the Government and to the brotherly South African people.”

“Venezuela stands in solidarity with the pain of those who today face an irreparable loss and wishes those injured a speedy recovery,” he emphasized.

South African authorities reported that the accident occurred when a truck collided with a school minibus in the province of Gauteng. Preliminary reports indicated that at least 11 schoolchildren died on the spot, and two more in the hospital due to the seriousness of their injuries.

School transportation transported students to several primary and secondary schools in southwest Johannesburg around 7:00am, according to authorities.
