The Deputy Minister for Europe and North America of the Ministry of People's Power for Foreign Affairs of the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela, Andrea Corao, accompanied the ambassador of the Republic of Türkiye, Naci Aydan Karamanoğlu, at the wreath-giving ceremony to the Liberator Simon Bolivar at the National Pantheon, in Caracas, on the occasion of the 102nd anniversary of the founding of the Eurasian country.
Under the glorious notes of Glory to the Brave People and the March of Independence (İstiklâl Marşı), Corao and Karamanoğlu -accompanied by the Minister of Foreign Trade, Coromoto Godoy and representatives of the diplomatic corps - ratified the ties of friendship and cooperation, in the framework of the 75th anniversary of the establishment of the diplomatic relations established on December 29, 1950.
Every October 29th, the Turkish people celebrate Republic Day or Cumhuriyet Bayramı. The date commemorates the proclamation of the Republic of Türkiye in 1923 by Mustafa Kemal Atatürk, after the defeat of the Ottoman Empire in the First World War.
Atatürk, who was elected as the nation's first president, marking the beginning of a new era in Turkish politics and national identity, led the War of Independence (1919-1923) that culminated in the creation of a modern and sovereign state.
Caracas and Ankara strengthened diplomatic relations in 2009, under Commander Hugo Chávez, when they acquired a high-level character, thanks to the establishment of the Joint Cooperation Commission.
The bond has been strengthened by President Nicolás Maduro, who, based on Bolivarian Peace Diplomacy and a pluricentric and multipolar perspective, establishes unprecedented agreements with Türkiye in the economy, industry, health, sports, youth, education, trade, fishing and aquaculture, among other areas.
