The vice-president of the Venezuelan Chamber of Electronic Commerce (Cavecom-E), Erick Beni Flores, said that the digital economy in the country has entered a decisive phase of maturity, which places Venezuela in a strategic position to consolidate itself between 2028 and 2029 as one of the global references in the field.

In an interview with Venezolana de Televisión, he said that this responds first of all, to sovereignty and operational efficiency, “that is provided by the business park itself, the inventions themselves, as well as citizen inclusion and literacy.”

At this point, he indicated that the chamber maintains training programs aimed at businessmen, citizens and public officials.

Referring to the massification of mobile payments, financial inclusion and projections for 2030, he noted that the population's response to technological solutions has been highly positive.

In this regard, he stated that “we are already seeing how little by little progress has been made in allowing everyone in everyday life to carry out digital transactions without having cash on hand. Likewise, retailers have also made progress in expanding their platforms for their interactions.”

He pointed out that in the banking sector, a definitive consolidation of digital banking is planned by 2030, in line with the instructions of the president in charge of the Republic, Delcy Rodríguez, to digitize all financial transactions and be able to enter this ecosystem.

Regarding the simplification of procedures and digital governance, he specified that “the idea is to leave separate islands and connect to each other through all the databases you may have and thus provide an immediate response to any procedure”.

He also explained that the country closed with a banking index of 97.5%, registering an increase to 98.5% during the first three months of 2026. According to the director, “these numbers continue to consolidate Venezuela as one of the best economies, or towards that complete transition of the digital economy.”

He highlighted that nearly 90% of current commercial payments are made through mobile payment. “Mobile payment is as Venezuelan as any other symbol that characterizes us, it emerged during a pandemic and solves the need to be able to carry out transactions, a last-mile logistics,” he said.

He said that the chamber has made suggestions to adjust their tax status so that these payments formally enter the system and the mechanism moves towards a second stage.
