Venezuela joined the International Alliance of Film Festivals “The Belt and the Road”

Venezuela officially became the 50th member of the International Alliance of Film Festivals “The Belt and the Road”, through the signing of a memorandum between the National Cinematheque Foundation (FCN) of Venezuela, an entity attached to the Ministry of Popular Power for Culture (MPPC), and that Alliance.

The signing took place during the 27th Shanghai International Film Festival, held this Saturday, June 21, which was attended by the Deputy Minister of Audiovisual Culture of the MPPC, Sergio Arria; the Consul General of Venezuela in Shanghai, Atilio Villasmil; the president of the National Cinemateca, Vladimir Sosa; and the president of the National Autonomous Cinematography Center, Carlos Azpurua.

Representing China, the following authorities were present: Qin Zhenggui, vice-minister of the Film Bureau of the Ministry of Broadcasting of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of China; Liu Yina, director of the Film Office of the Department of Dissemination of the Shanghai Municipal Committee of the Communist Party of China; Chen Guo, director of the Shanghai International Film and Television Festival Center; and Li Qingling, of the Office of Affairs Internationals of the Ministry of Dissemination of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of China.

The integration of Venezuela into this Alliance represents a significant advance in its cultural policy, opening up an unprecedented range of opportunities for Venezuelan filmmakers.

The International Alliance of Film Festivals “The Belt and the Road” has as its fundamental objective the promotion of culture and art through cinema. The recent signing of this memorandum reinforces this purpose, by establishing permanent lines of work that will seek to enrich the film scene among all member countries.
