The United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (Unesco) protected Venezuela's right to vote for the second consecutive time in the framework of its 43rd General Conference, which is taking place in Samarkand, Uzbekistan.
In a report, the Finance and Administration Commission (FA), quoted by Fuser News, recognizes the extraordinary situation to which Venezuela is subject as a result of the unilateral, extraterritorial and illegal coercive measures imposed by the United States (USA), the European Union (EU) and its allies, “which affect the possibility of making financial contributions to the Organization”.
Before the presentation of the report, the General Conference unanimously decided to preserve the right of Venezuela to vote and to be elected in all subsidiary bodies of that body, which reaffirms the principles of sovereign equality and non-discrimination among Member States.
The permanent delegation of the South American nation to UNESCO expressed its deep gratitude to Member States for this show of solidarity and respect for the founding principles of the Organization.
