For the second consecutive year, Venezuela participated in the International Films Festival of Ancient Splendour, in the city of Ujjain, India, Venezuelan Television review.

The Festival, organized by the Directorate of Culture of the Government of the State of Madhya Pradesh, specializes in the exhibition of heritage films from India and the invited countries.

In this edition, Venezuela participated, through the alliance and collaboration between the Embassy in India and the National Cinematheque Foundation, with the screening of two films of important cultural and social value.

The two films screened were, “The Staircase”, directed by César Enríquez, in 1950, which is the first Venezuelan neorealist film; and “Oriana”, directed by Fina Torres, in 1985, winner of the Golden Chamber at the Cannes Film Festival; best film, best screenplay, at the Cartagena Festival; and best film, at the Chicago Film Festival, in 1985.

The festival organization thanked the Ambassador of the Bolivarian Nation, Capaya Rodríguez, for the country's participation in the event and invited them to continue supporting cultural exchange between the two nations, and to expand interaction in other areas, such as performing and musical arts, under the auspices of the state of Madhya Pradesh, so soon the call for applications for the next theater festival will be sent, in the month of November, in the city of Ujjain.
