The Minister of Popular Power for Foreign Affairs, Yván Gil, participated this Friday in a videoconference meeting with foreign ministers and diplomats from the region, aimed at addressing the issue of Human Mobility on the Northern Route of the Continent, in which he highlighted Venezuela's commitment to guarantee the voluntary and safe return of its compatriots abroad.

“Our objective is to articulate efforts that promote orderly, safe, regular, responsible and humane management,” said the Venezuelan Foreign Minister, in a message released through his Telegram channel.

Gil pointed out that, despite the unilateral coercive measures imposed by the United States and its allies against the South American nation, “the Venezuelan economy continues to grow and opens its doors to Venezuelans who return to the country, after having migrated due to the imperialist blockade. Together, we can secure and defend the rights of our peoples.”

In this context, the President of the Republic, Nicolás Maduro, elevated the Great Mission Back to the Homeland to the instance of Executive Vice Presidency of the country, headed by the revolutionary leader Delcy Rodríguez, to ensure its maximum efficiency and effectiveness in caring for the migrant population.

During his annual message to the nation, from the Teresa Carreño Theater in Caracas, the Head of State specified that the intention is to increase the return of compatriots. “Let them come to work, to study, to dance and to live in their homeland,” he said, while assuring that Venezuela is ready to receive compatriots who left the country because of “ sanctions against the economy.”

“Sanctions against the economy were to blame for the migration, no less than 1.5 million Venezuelans left in 2018. Now, 1.2 million have returned and are doing well, working, to the extent that economic development is consolidated, Venezuela will be ready to receive all our compatriots,” he emphasized.
