Venezuela has taken important steps in promoting birdwatching with the holding of the first webinar dedicated to this practice, organized by the Ministry of Popular Power for Tourism, with the objective of strengthening the capacities of tourism service providers and guiding the creation of products related to bird watching in accordance with sustainability criteria.
The Deputy Minister of International Tourism, Lisbeth Rosales, led the meeting, focused on the positioning of national destinations in specialized markets. The country has more than 1,400 species, making its ornithological inventory a strategic resource for expanding the offer aimed at international observers and operators, according to a press release from Venezolana de Televisión (VTV).
The program included the participation of experts from the region. Isis Castro (Honduras) presented the guidelines for structuring competitive proposals in this segment; Anais Pascual (Spain) presented the report “Indomitable Venezuela”, focused on the value of biodiversity as a key element to attract nature-loving travelers. From Guatemala, Maynor Ovando addressed the issue of management and guidance training, while Jhon Jiménez (Colombia) highlighted the importance of integrating educational processes that generate benefits for communities and reinforce environmental awareness.
The Ministry of Popular Power for Tourism hopes that these exchanges will promote Venezuelan natural heritage and expand inbound tourism as a way to boost the economy. The strategy aims to consolidate the country as a competitive destination and promote ornithological tourism as an engine of responsible development at the international level.
