In a historic step towards technological autonomy in the region, the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela actively participated in the First General Assembly of the Latin American and Caribbean Space Agency (ALCE), held in the city of Querétaro, which formally marks the beginning of the operational phase of this multilateral organization.
The national delegation was led by the president of the Bolivarian Agency for Space Activities (ABAE), Lieutenant Colonel Adolfo Godoy, who represented the country's interests in consolidating this new axis of space cooperation.
During the Assembly, member countries reached essential consensus for the functioning of the ALCE, including:
The approval of the legal framework and internal regulations.
The definition of the institutional structure of the body.
The establishment of plans to coordinate space capabilities in the region.
The ALCE will focus its efforts on critical areas such as satellite observation for climate monitoring, the creation of early warning systems for natural disasters, boosting agricultural productivity and strengthening telecommunications across the continent.
The presence of Venezuela in this international forum reaffirms the commitment of the Bolivarian Government to the peaceful use of outer space. In addition, the participation of ABAE underlines the will to build scientific sovereignty and technological autonomy that directly benefits the development of the peoples of Latin America and the Caribbean.
With this integration, Venezuela positions itself as a key actor in regional spatial architecture, betting on science as a tool for integration and common well-being.
