The Minister of Popular Power for Fisheries and Aquaculture, Juan Carlos Loyo, emphasized the importance of establishing a joint maritime policy among the member countries of the Bolivarian Alliance for the Peoples of Our America (ALBA), with the objective of articulating an effective strategy for the development of the fishing sector.

Loyo highlighted that Venezuela, with its extensive experience in fishing and exporting, is willing to share its intellectual and infrastructure capital with other member countries, in order to promote the growth of fishing activity in the region.

The minister stressed that this joint policy will respect the sovereignty and exclusive economic zone of each nation, but will allow for better coordination between the bodies responsible for fisheries management. He also emphasized the proposal of President Nicolás Maduro, who suggests that Venezuela make its fishing fleet available to the ALBA countries, considered one of the most important in the industrial field.

In addition, he said Venezuela seeks to strengthen its strategy for the export of fishery resources, taking advantage of agreements with China that make it possible to optimize the country's productive capacities.
