Venezuela raises the urgency of expanding access to sources of finance and investment at the UN

The Deputy Minister for Multilateral Issues of the Ministry for Foreign Affairs and International Trade, Joaquín Pérez Ay, spoke this Friday at the Ministerial Meeting of the Group of Friends of the Global Development Initiative, within the framework of the 81st session of the General Assembly of the United Nations (UN), which is taking place in New York, United States.
During his speech, he commemorated the fifth anniversary of the creation of the Group of Friends of the Global Development Initiative (GDI), highlighting its fundamental role as a platform to accelerate compliance with the 2030 Agenda.
He noted that, over the past five years, this alliance has made it possible to mobilize significant resources, promote knowledge transfer and implement projects aimed at improving social welfare, highlighting that strategic areas such as food security, digital transformation and disaster risk management have benefited thanks to this multilateral mechanism of concrete cooperation.
He also emphasized that the effectiveness of international aid lies in its ability to adapt to national realities, allowing each State to trace its own path towards sustainable development in a sovereign manner.
On behalf of the Bolivarian Government, the Venezuelan diplomat raised the urgency of expanding access to sources of finance, investment and scientific advances for developing nations, also demanding the elimination of barriers that restrict trade and hinder global economic growth.
He also stated the relevance of strengthening unions between the GDI, the UN and various international financial institutions to optimize available resources.
Finally, he reiterated his willingness to work together and his commitment to transform reconstruction into an opportunity to consolidate capacities for sustainable development and lasting well-being for its population.
