The Government of Venezuela reaffirmed on Monday its unrestricted attachment to the principle of "One China" and rejected the secessionist position of the new leader of the Taiwan region, Mr. Lai Ching-te, who is “contrary to the peaceful reunification of the Strait, peace and regional stability”.
In a statement, released by Foreign Minister Yván Gil, Venezuela condemned “any threat of hegemonic imperialism and categorically rejects any intervention by a country under any pretext, which could undermine peace and regional stability”, stressing that it recognizes as “the only legitimate representative of the Chinese people the Government of the People's Republic of China, and that the island of Taiwan is an inalienable part of its historical territory”.

The Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela, honoring the All-Trial and All-Time Strategic Partnership between China and Venezuela, under the guidance of the Joint Declaration issued by Presidents Nicolás Maduro Moros and Xi Jinping in September 2023, reaffirms its unrestricted attachment to the principle of “One China”, which recognizes as the true and only legitimate representative of the Chinese people the Government of the People's Republic of China, and that the island of Taiwan is an indispensable part of its historic territory.
For this reason, the Government of the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela rejects the secessionist position of the leader of the Democratic Progressive Party (PDP), Mr. Lai Ching-te, issued in his speech of May 20, 2024, when he assumes the role of the new leader of the Taiwan region, being contrary to the peaceful reunification of the Strait, peace and regional stability.
The Bolivarian Government, praising its principle of Peace Diplomacy, condemns any threat of hegemonic imperialism and categorically rejects any intervention by a country under any pretext, which could undermine peace and regional stability.
The Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela reaffirms its eternal friendship with the sister People's Republic of China, with a faithful commitment to continue to deepen the political-bilateral ties and solidarity that contribute to the consolidation of the community of humanity's shared future.
