The Ministry of People's Power of Foreign Trade held this Wednesday the conference “United States Naval Operations in the Southern Caribbean. Venezuela and the Law of the Sea”, which was led by Admiral Eladio Jiménez Rattia, who spoke on the defense of sovereignty against imperialist aggression in the Caribbean.

During the installation of the activity, Minister Coromoto Godoy stressed that Venezuela today faces a clear aggression against its sovereignty, territorial integrity and right to peace; “but also to our right to fishing, to economic and productive development.”

He also stressed the geoeconomic importance of the Caribbean in understanding the strategic need to exercise political and economic sovereignty over the maritime surface, “with the objective of diversifying our economy and for the promotion of non-oil exports.”

The holder of this ministerial portfolio highlighted the potential of Blue Venezuela, so she specified that maritime sectors are already one of the main strengths of export diversification, “we are going to continue on this path.”

He added that President Nicolás Maduro continues the legacy of vindicating the Caribbean and the slogan is to produce, supply and export the fruits of Blue Venezuela.

From this space, we reiterate “the unwavering support for President Maduro, who leads the national union against the imperialist presence off our shores.”

For his part, the Deputy Minister of Comprehensive Transportation Planning and Development, Alm. Eladio Jiménez Rattia, speaker at the conference, spoke masterfully and at the same time very didactically on U.S. naval operations in the Caribbean Sea, the jurisdiction of maritime waters, economic sovereignty in Exclusive Economic Zones and other key geopolitical issues for understanding the current situation.

Venezuela is a maritime country, Blue Venezuela is a conceptual construction to highlight and emphasize the strategic importance of the sea for Venezuela, as well as on the formation of the aquatic consciousness and identity of its citizens,” said the Admiral, who also added that the threat against the nation is due to the domination and control of resources. He emphasized that the territorial sea is a vital area for the comprehensive security of the Republic.

In a graphic characterization of US imperial doctrine, he illustrated how Latin America and the Caribbean are part of the vital area of the United States, concluding that its current naval presence in the South Caribbean violates international law and represents an aggression for Venezuela and a regional threat, which is faced by the Venezuelan people heir to the liberators.

The conference was accompanied by the Deputy Minister of Export Promotion, Daniella Cabello; the Deputy Minister of International Trade Policy, Johann Álvarez; the deputy Juan Romero, the team of the National Center for Historical Studies, representatives of the business sector and spokespersons of communes.

Servants from both institutions were also present at the full-room activity at the joint headquarters of the Ministry of Foreign Trade and Pequiven.
