Venezuela reaffirms support for the sovereignty and territorial integrity of Somalia (+Communiqué)

The Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela reaffirmed its recognition of the sovereignty, unity and territorial integrity of the Federal Republic of Somalia, within its internationally recognized borders, and emphasized that this principle constitutes a pillar of international law and the Charter of the United Nations, following Israel's decision to recognize the independence of Somaliland.

Through the statement, which was shared by the Foreign Minister of the Republic, Yván Gil, through his Telegram channel, Venezuela expressed its support for the resolutions of the Security Council of the United Nations and the decisions of the African Union that support Somali territorial integrity, considering that their respect is fundamental for peace and stability in the Horn of Africa.

The Venezuelan Government also rejected any unilateral action aimed at recognizing separatist entities in Somali territory, warning that such initiatives contravene international law and may affect regional stability. At the same time, he called for the peaceful resolution of disputes through dialogue, mutual respect and multilateral mechanisms.
