This Friday, April 11, the ambassador appointed by the Republic of Haiti to Venezuela, Jean Mary Vaval, arrived in the country, who was received at Simon Bolivar International Airport, by the director general for the Caribbean of the Ministry of People's Power for Foreign Affairs (MPPRE), Gustavo Díaz Aular.
In a press release from the MPPRE, he points out that Aular conveyed to the new ambassador the most cordial welcome and a message of support and friendship from the Government of Venezuela and its authorities.
Ambassador Vaval, who had previously served as Counselor at the Haitian Embassy in Caracas, will soon present Style Copies to Foreign Minister Yván Gil and Credentials to the Venezuelan constitutional president, Nicolás Maduro, to assume as the new diplomatic representative of the Caribbean country in Venezuela.
This designation is another gesture of the deepening of the political relationship that exists between the two Governments, whose peoples have maintained a common twinning for the independence cause for centuries.
The island nation supported the Liberator Simon Bolivar during the Venezuelan liberation war, and offered him asylum after his flight after the fall of the Second Republic in 1815.
In addition, Haiti provided supplies and troops in 1816 to the Liberator on his return to the Venezuelan homeland. Despite these positive approaches, both nations did not establish diplomatic relations until July 10, 1864.
Venezuela was the first South American nation to recognize Haitian independence, while the Caribbean nation was the seventeenth to recognize Caracas.
