The Minister of People's Power for Foreign Affairs, Yván Gil, mourned this Wednesday the death of Roland Lumumba, son of the first president of the Democratic Republic of Congo, Patrice Lumumba.
“With deep sadness we received the news of the death of our brother Roland Lumumba,” said the Venezuelan Foreign Minister through his Telegram channel, noting that the Congolese leader, “faithful heir to a historic struggle, dedicated his life to the search for justice and maintained, until his last breath, a firm commitment to solidarity with the Venezuelan people, with President Nicolás Maduro and the Bolivarian Revolution”.
He highlighted that Roland's life and work consolidated a bridge between Mother Africa and Our America, uniting historical struggles and shared values. “He always believed in fraternity between peoples and in the need to defend the memory of those who fought for the freedom of their nations,” he said.
Gil, on behalf of the president in charge Delcy Rodríguez, extended his solidarity to Roland Lumumba's family, his friends and the entire Congolese people.
