The Government of the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela categorically rejects the ruling issued on May 1, 2025 by the International Court of Justice, regarding the abusive and interventionist interim measures required by the Cooperative Republic of Guyana against the Venezuelan electoral process for the election of the authorities of the Guayana Esequiba state.
Venezuela confirms that, faithful to its historical position, it does not recognize or will ever recognize the jurisdiction of the International Court of Justice nor will it comply with any decision emanating from it to settle the territorial dispute surrounding Esequiba Guiana, in a process that has been rigged since its inception and manipulated by anti-Venezuelan corporate interests that have nothing to do with justice.
This territorial dispute is governed by the Geneva Agreement of 1966, a legally binding instrument that established the obligation of the parties to resolve the territorial dispute, through a practical and mutually acceptable settlement.
In addition, nothing in international law allows the International Court of Justice to interfere in matters that are exclusive to Venezuela's domestic law, nor to seek to prohibit a sovereign act, organized within the framework of its participatory political system and based on its Constitution and national legislation.
Guiana Essequiba is an indispensable part of Venezuelan territory and a legacy of our liberators. Its defense is a historic, constitutional and moral mandate that unites the entire Bolivarian Homeland. There will be no international pressure, judicial blackmail or foreign court to push back on this conviction.
The Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela once again demands that the Government of Guyana stop delaying direct negotiations and strictly comply with the Geneva Agreement, as the only valid path for a definitive, peaceful and satisfactory solution for both parties on the territory of Guiana Essequiba. The soul of Venezuela is expressed in the irrevocable decision to defend our sacred territory of Guiana Essequiba.
The Venezuelan Sun rises in the Essequibo!
