The Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela rejected the statement issued by the Cooperative Republic of Guyana regarding the communication sent by the Venezuelan authorities to the Secretary General of the United Nations, António Guterres, regarding the false flag plan that would be being prepared from Georgetown against the ExxonMobil platform.
Through an official statement, published by the Executive Vice President, Delcy Rodríguez, it was announced that:
The Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela categorically rejects the communiqué issued by the Cooperative Republic of Guyana, on the occasion of the communication sent by Venezuela to the Secretary General of the United Nations Organization.
In its statement, Guyana continues its desperate and irresponsible attempt to distort and ignore the legally binding obligations assumed with the signing of the Geneva Agreement of 1966, according to which the territorial dispute over Guiana Essequiba must be resolved through a practical and mutually acceptable settlement between the parties.
Venezuela has demonstrated that Guyana not only sabotaged the good offices process developed by the UN Secretary General in accordance with the Geneva Agreement, but also exerted undue and illegitimate pressure on the General Secretariat to have the dispute irregularly referred to the International Court of Justice, in violation of the UN Charter itself, thanks to the lobby and financial support of ExxonMobil.
The Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela confirms that the International Court of Justice has no jurisdiction to hear Guyana's unilateral claim regarding the “validity” of the 1899 arbitral award. True to its historical position, Venezuela will never recognize any decision emanating from that instance regarding the territorial controversy surrounding Guiana Essequiba. This position has been overwhelmingly ratified by the Venezuelan people in the consultative referendum held last December 03, 2023.
Guyana's lies will turn into its own torment. Sooner or later he must sit at the negotiating table to reach the practical and mutually acceptable settlement mandated by the Geneva Agreement. This instrument is in force and is the regulatory framework that must be complied with in good faith by the parties, in accordance with international law.
The Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela demands that the Cooperative Republic of Guyana cease its campaigns of lies and strictly comply with the Geneva Agreement, as the only valid path for a definitive, peaceful and satisfactory solution for both parties on the territory of Guiana Essequiba.
The Venezuelan sun rises in the Essequibo.
