The Minister of People's Power for Foreign Affairs of the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela, Yván Gil, issued a message of condolences and solidarity with the peoples and governments of the Republic of Indonesia, the Kingdom of Thailand and the Democratic Socialist Republic of Sri Lanka after the devastating effects of the recent floods.

The Venezuelan Foreign Minister placed special emphasis on the magnitude of the tragedy and the consequences it has had on the lives of thousands of people, stressing the pain caused by the human and material losses suffered, mainly in the provinces of Indonesia: North Sumatra, Aceh and West Sumatra.

“Faced with this regrettable event, which has left dead, injured and an undetermined number of missing, Venezuela deeply sympathizes with the families who are victims of these natural attacks and raises its prayers for the eternal rest of the fallen and the speedy recovery of those affected,” Gil said in a post on Telegram.

He also expressed his appreciation for the efforts of local authorities and rescue teams who have worked tirelessly to address the emergency. In this regard, he stressed that Venezuela expects the soon “restoration of normality in the affected areas”, reaffirming its “deep brotherhood with these hardworking peoples”.
