Symphonic music and architectural heritage will come together this Sunday, May 31, in a special concert offered by the Venezuela Symphony Orchestra in the Aula Magna of the Central University of Venezuela (UCV), commemorating the 25th anniversary of the inclusion of the University City of Caracas in the UNESCO World Heritage List.

The vice-president of the Venezuelan Symphony Orchestra, Lifir Oscher, explained that the repertoire was selected to evoke representative moments in the history of the Aula Magna and to pay homage to the country's musical tradition.

The program includes the Overture of the Johannes Brahms Academic Festival and Suite Number 1 of the drama Beggin by Edvard Grieg, together with works by Venezuelan composers who were part of the group: La Fuga Criolla by Juan Bautista Plaza, The River of the Seven Stars by Evencio Castellanos and the Caraqueña Suite by Gonzalo Castellanos-Yumar.

To close the event, the UCV University Orfeón, founded in 1943, will join the stage to perform The Hours of Juan Bautista Plaza and the Anthem of the Central University of Venezuela, composed by Evencio Castellanos.

The concert will start at 11:15 in the morning in the Aula Magna of the UCV, under the musical direction of Felipe Escaray for the Venezuela Symphony Orchestra and Raúl López for the Orfeón Universitario.
