The Bolivarian Government, this Monday, September 15, expressed its gratitude to the People's Republic of China for its firm and decisive response to the illegal interception and intimidation by the United States Navy of the Venezuelan fishing vessel “Carmen Rosa” in the waters of the Venezuelan Exclusive Economic Zone.

The Foreign Minister of the Republic, Yván Gil, through his social media accounts, expressed his gratitude, “on behalf of President Nicolás Maduro, we express our gratitude to the People's Republic of China, through its Ministry of Foreign Affairs”, in the face of the aforementioned illegal act.

He also stated that China's solidarity is profoundly valuable for the defense of international law and for its call for respect for Venezuela's internal affairs.

Gil also explained that “this act constitutes a clear attempt to provoke a conflict in our region, violating both international law and our sovereignty and the principle of the Zone of Peace that we defend.”

The spokesman for the Chinese Foreign Ministry, Lin Jian, said at a press conference that the actions of the United States “seriously violate the sovereignty, security and legitimate rights and interests of other countries, and violate international law.”

Jian urged the American nation to “not use the fight against drug trafficking as an excuse to undermine the economic security of all countries and the freedoms and rights they enjoy under international law.”
