The Minister of People's Power for Foreign Affairs,
Yván Gil, thanked the Government of the People's Republic of China this Thursday for its
support for the sovereignty of the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela in the face of
new threats from the United States (USA) against the South American nation.
“On behalf of President Nicolás Maduro, we want to express
our sincerest gratitude to the People's Republic of China for its firm
rejection of U.S. interventionism in Venezuela and the threats of
use of force that seek to transform our region, which has been declared a
Zone of Peace, into a new scenario of colonial war,” Foreign Minister
Gil said through his Telegram channel.
In this regard, the Venezuelan diplomat “deeply valued
the statements of the Chinese Ministry of Foreign Affairs, which
reflect its solidarity with our country and we reiterate our unwavering
friendship with the people and the Government of China,” he emphasized.
Recently, the spokeswoman for the Chinese Foreign Ministry, Mao Ning,
indicated that Beijing rejects “the use of force or the threat of force in international
relations and we oppose interference in Venezuela's
internal affairs from outside, whatever the pretext”, referring to the
patrolling of American warships in the Caribbean Sea near the Venezuelan coast.
For Ning, US actions violate the sovereignty of other
countries and threaten regional peace, and stated that China “opposes any
action that violates the purposes and principles of the UN Charter or violates
the sovereignty and security of other countries.”
