Venezuela thanks Iran for defending Venezuelan sovereignty in the face of US actions

This Tuesday, December 23, the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela extended its cordial greetings to the Islamic Republic of Iran and expressed its sincere gratitude for its firm defense of Venezuelan sovereignty and of the entire region, in the face of the aggressions of the United States (USA).

This was announced by the Foreign Minister of the Republic, Yván Gil, through his Telegram channel, in which he stressed that the Venezuelan people deeply value Iran's commitment “to the stability of international trade, which is currently threatened by bellicose and illegal actions of the United States.”

He also thanked all countries for calling on them to speak out vigorously against any threat or use of force that contravenes the Charter of the United Nations.

The spokesman for the Iranian Foreign Ministry, Esmail Baqai, condemned the actions taken by the United States in the Caribbean.

“The actions perpetrated by the United States in the Caribbean in recent months, which include increasing pressure against an independent government member of the United Nations with the objective of intervening and changing the sovereignty of that country, contradict all international principles and norms; in fact, these actions weaken and erode the norms that have been the basis of the international community's coexistence,” he said.

At the same time, he stressed that they “are a serious threat to international peace and stability. Any country that considers itself responsible must take a stand against this US action.”
