Venezuela thanks Iran for its rejection of the US assault on the oil merchant vessel

On behalf of the President of the Republic, Nicolás Maduro, Venezuela extends Bolivarian greetings to Iran and expresses its gratitude for its firm rejection of the assault perpetrated by the United States Army against a merchant ship loaded with Venezuelan oil, under orders of the current U.S. administration.

This was stated by the Foreign Minister of the Republic, Yván Gil, through his account on the social network Telegram, in which he said: “Iran, through its spokesperson for the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Ismail Baghaei, has supported what Venezuela and all nations committed to international law have denounced.”

In that regard, he emphasized that “the United States has neither the right nor the jurisdiction to invoke its internal laws and its illegal blockades against the trade and economies of other countries to justify acts of piracy and extrajudicial executions in waters of the Caribbean Sea.”
