The Foreign Minister of the Republic, Yván Gil, announced that Venezuela thanks the Republic of Sierra Leone for its solidarity and firm defense of international law in the context of the recent aggressions of the United States against the country that culminated in the kidnapping of President Nicolás Maduro and First Lady Cilia Flores.

Gil explained that he had a telephone conversation with Musa Timothy Kabbah, Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation of Sierra Leone, with the objective of exposing the reality of the country and strengthening diplomatic ties between the two nations.

During the conversation, he conveyed the recognition of the Bolivarian Government for the support expressed for Venezuela and for the coherent position of Sierra Leone in defending the Charter of the United Nations.

The Foreign Minister stressed that Venezuela congratulated Sierra Leone for its work in favor of peace, human rights and international stability, especially in its role as a non-permanent member of the Security Council for the period 2024-2025, where it maintained a responsible position aligned with the principles of multilateralism.

Gil stressed that Venezuela will continue to promote the truth about the country's situation and strengthen relations with States that defend respect for sovereignty, international legality and the peaceful resolution of disputes.
