Venezuela will hold the first International Seminar on Sustainable Pharmacy

In Venezuela, the first International Seminar on Sustainable Pharmacy will be held on March 11 and 12, at the Venezuelan Hydrocarbons University, with international and national experts, the Sectorial Vice President of Science, Technology and Health, Gabriela Jiménez, reported this Friday, March 07.
In his account on the social network Telegram, he explained that “a sustainable pharmacy is all the processes associated with the manufacture, trade and use of drugs/drugs that must operate in an environmentally, socially and economically responsible manner, with the objective of minimizing their negative impact on the environment and contributing to the long-term well-being of the community (ecosystems)”.
The topics to be addressed are: Environmental impact of drugs; Biotechnological tools for sustainable production; Student knowledge and curriculum design in sustainable pharmacy; Cultural patterns of drug consumption and waste; Ecological effects of drugs; Solutions to reduce the environmental impact of drugs, and Sustainable hospitals and pharmacies.
In this regard, Jiménez said that “science must move towards new strategies that favor the control and management of waste caused by drugs and, act on the consequences of drug contamination and industrial and medical responsibility in the rational use of medicines; in this regard, it must be a policy of all for 'One Health'”
He also highlighted the relationship of this topic with the National Pharmaceutical Engine and with the industrial capacities that our country has in this area.
“The National Pharmaceutical Engine is aware of the opportunity to update this area in order to further develop pharmaceutical industrial capacities, the network for the distribution and marketing of drugs to the people,” he stressed.
