Venezuela wins an unprecedented medal in golball at the II Parasuramerican Games Valledupar 2026

The men's national volleyball team won the first bronze medal in this discipline for Venezuela, at the II Parasuramerican Games Valledupar 2026, held in Colombia.
The Venezuelan team dominated the commitment for third place against Chile from start to finish, winning with an overall score of 12-3.
In the first half, Venezuela took a 7-1 lead and in the second period it maintained control of the match with a run of 5-2 to seal a historic victory.
The player Carlos Linares dedicated this important achievement to the country and highlighted the team's strength to achieve the goal.
“This medal is primarily dedicated to God, who gave us the strength to face this tough game, giving us the tools to carry it calmly and patiently to the last second. It is a joy to be able to give this medal to Venezuelan volleyball and even more so now in the situation we are in,” he said, a press release from the Ministry of Sport.
In other competitions of the II Parasuramerican Games Valledupar 2026, the men's and women's seated volleyball teams finished their participation in fourth position.
In the men's division, Venezuela fell to Brazil in the semifinals by 3 sets to 0, with partials of 23-25, 16-25 and 16-25, and then gave up 3-0 against Argentina for bronze.
Meanwhile, the women's team was overtaken by Brazil in the semifinals with partials of 20-25, 14-25 and 18-25, and later, also for third place in the tournament, it fell 3-0 to Argentina.
