Venezuela wins gold medal at Singapore International Mathematics Olympiad

The young Venezuelan, Ibrahim Rahwan Falaha, won a gold medal at the Mathematics Olympiad in Singapore and Asian Schools (SASMO) 2026, said the Minister for Science and Technology, Gabriela Jiménez.
“Today we celebrate a new triumph that fills our hearts with joy and shows us that, with knowledge, we continue to build a science for life,” he said in a message posted on his Telegram channel.
This talented student, a native of Bolivar state, carried “our flag to the top in the biggest competition in Asia, standing out among more than 700,000 students from 50 countries thanks to his talent,” said the minister.
Minister Gabriela Jiménez pondered the actions of these brilliant students who are part of the National Scientific Seed Program, which seeks to promote early vocations and awaken curiosity about sciences, technologies and innovations in all fields.
In the same way, according to a MINCYT press release, he extended congratulations to Joseph Pérez for his participation in this demanding international event held on the Asian continent.
Finally, Jiménez reiterated that the Genius Generation are sources of inspiration: “Thank you for giving us such good news and for showing that the talent of our youth has no limits.”
