Venezuela won 9 gold medals in swimming at the Central American and Caribbean School Games

On the third day of the VII Central American and Caribbean School
Sports Games Córdoba 2025, the Venezuelan swimming delegation won 9
of the 11 gold medals in dispute, at the
facilities of the Olympic Village of the North of Montería.
In the men's 800 meters freestyle, Juan Gómez
won with a time of 8:32.78, in a test he dominated from the start,
followed by his teammate Dany Papadia with a time of 8:35.88 for
the silver medal and the Colombian. The bronze went to Colombian Juan
Botello, according to a press release from the Ministry of Sport.
For her part, Daniela Suárez took over the women's
1,500 meters freestyle with a record of 17:48. Colombians Sarah
Triana and Erika Naranjo won the silver and bronze medals, respectively
with a time of 18:03.92 and 18:16.
The men's 50-meter freestyle event was
dominated by Dennis Pérez, who maintained an explosive speed until the
clock stopped at 23.92 seconds, accompanied by his teammate Adanuriel Rosal Brito 24.21
(silver) and the Colombian Omar Crueche 24.64 (bronze).
Lisfrancis Cayones won the gold medal
in the women's 100-meter chest with a time of 1:14.36, in which he set the
pace without opposition from his rivals, beating his compatriot Angelina
Pirca with 17.13 (silver) and the Colombian Isabella Moreno Yopasa 1:18.51 (bronze).
While the women's 200 meters went
to Mónica Leydar, who relied on her dominant styles, back and
butterfly to secure an unrivaled gold, with a record of 2:22.11.
In the men's 400 meters combined, Diego
Caruci won the gold medal, with a time of 4:37.89, followed by
his teammate Ángelo Toscano with 4:39.68 (silver) and the Mexican Gael Sánchez Toscano 4:46.25 (bronze).
Meanwhile, Ana Verde was crowned in the women's
50-meter butterfly with 28.54 seconds, while the Mexican Alejandra
Martínez Vergara took the silver with 29.10 and the Venezuelan Samantha Morales with the bronze, 29.37.
The Venezuelan quartet made up of José Vargas,
Gustavo Idrogo, Juan Gómez and Dennis Pérez clocked 3:54.50 to win the
gold medal in the men's 4×100 meter relay.
Colombia took silver with 3:55.13, and
Mexico took bronze with 3:58.55.
In the women's 4×100 freestyle relay, it was also
dominated by Venezuela. The team comprised of Ana Verde, Angelina Pirca,
Mónica Leydar and Paula Hernández set a time of 4:28.49 to climb to the top of the podium.
Colombia won silver with 4:33.69, and Guatemala won bronze
with 4:35.01.
