The Venezuelan athletes who will participate in the Pan American Wrestling Championship, which will be held from May 7 to 10 in Coralville, United States (USA), received funding this week.
Astrid Montero, athlete in the discipline, said that “the preparation has been quite strong and we have enormous expectations in all categories, both free and Greco-Roman”.
Meanwhile, the athlete Luillys Pérez indicated that they prepare daily to attend each event that occurs. “We will leave our flag as high as possible,” he said, quoted in a press release from the Ministry of People's Power for Sports.
The president of the Venezuelan Wrestling Federation, José Barreto, said that this week he closed an extensive day of preparation to attend the United States. “There is great motivation and we have been able to visualize it,” he said.
The Pan American Wrestling Championship serves as a qualifier for the UWW World Wrestling Championship, so Olympic, world and continental champions are expected to attend, as well as promising young people.
