On a vibrant day, the Venezuelan fencing team in the men's sword category won the silver medal after playing a heart-stopping final against their Colombian counterpart, at the Santo Domingo 2026 Central American and Caribbean Games.
The Venezuelan team, made up of the experienced Francisco Limardo, Jesús Limardo, Grabiel Lugo and Janderson Briceño, took the silver one after equalizing 33-33 in the nine regulatory relays, the match was extended to the overtime period (sudden death), where Colombia ended up securing the victory by a very tight 34-33
To reach the final, the Criollos left the Dominican Republic team in the quarterfinals with a large score of 45-19 and in the semifinals the representatives of Cuba with a 45-37 victory.
