Under the motto “The story that moves the screen”, this coming Saturday, November 1, the second edition of the Venezuelan Film Festival: Memory and Heritage begins in the National Cinema Room of the Museum of Fine Arts, in Caracas.
In this regard, the president of the National Cinemateca Foundation, Vladimir Sosa, stressed that “for a week we will be visiting Venezuelan cinema” with the screening of 77 titles, exhibition of classic and restored films, as well as talks on festivals, sound heritage of cinema, Venezuelan cinematographic identity, among others.
He also indicated that this edition will show a large part of the Venezuelan cinematographic heritage, that is, classic samples of works that have undergone digital restoration processes. “This year's classic exhibition is dedicated to these restored materials. The exhibition of an important heritage collection for Venezuelan cinema, such as the Tiuna Films Noticiero of the 1950s, is a jewel of our history,” he said.
In addition, he said that the competitive contemporary film festival will award the La Araya de Oro Award to the most outstanding works, which will be selected from the following categories: feature films (fiction and documentary), short and medium length films (fiction and documentary), and student short films (fiction and documentary).
“It's a look at contemporary Venezuelan cinema that shows how we are looking at each other, narrating and telling,” he said.
