Venezuelan handball won the bronze medal in Lima

Venezuela rose to third place on the podium of the IHF Trophy Senior South American zone, which was held in Lima, Peru, after winning with authority against the host team 28-20.

The Venezuelan performance also had a prominent figure with Elimar Machado, who led the national offensive with 11 points and was recognized as the MVP of the bronze medal match.

In its debut, Venezuela started off on the right foot by defeating Colombia 27-17, showing from the start its offensive capacity and strength to control the match; however, in its second appearance, it suffered a 33-15 setback against Chile.

The Venezuelan national team reacted on the third day with a strong performance against Ecuador, which they dominated from start to finish and sealed a wide 38-9 victory, a result that allowed them to advance to the semifinals.

After finishing the group round with two wins and one loss, for four points, Venezuela ranked second in Group A, only behind the southern teams.

In the semifinals, the national team faced Uruguay in a highly demanding duel, in which the Charrúas ended up winning 32-15, to leave Venezuela with the mission of competing for third place.
